RE: ability grouping. I seem to recall that tracking was banned as it was used to segregate black and minority kids after legal segregation collapsed. A laudable goal, but one at odds with real education.

I guess there are two ways to interpret this. One, he's got reliable flunkies in place to do his bidding, so it's all a sham. Two, Putin is fed up and Kirsan is about to find out what the Gulag is all about. Just have to wait I guess. I'd say this m

I read this on several other sites last night. ChessBase did a good job of collecting articles from a bunch of them. This should be the end of Kirsan, but I don't trust him - he may win yet. A lot of people seem to think he's good (for them). H

Well, Shirov has won his third game in a row, clinching his spot in Bilbao. Great job! He should rejoin the top 10 after this tournament concludes. The other player to go to Bilbao will be decided in the last round (Kramnik and Aronian are tied fo

I don't really know a lot of the ins and outs of current chess politics, but I really can't understand what Kirsan has going for him. There is nothing about him that would lead to him doing a good job with FIDE. It makes sense that his clout as a d

Great game Shirov-Kramnik. My initial feeling is that it looked like Shirov had Kramnik on the ropes, then Kramnik played Rae8!?, and from what i notice without computer assistance, is that Shirov may have made a mistake with Rxa7. Kramnik played the
