This certainly explains some of the behaviour of those living along the St. Lawrence at Montreal and downstream. smile

On the plus side, at least the fish aren't depressed about becoming infertile.

Hehe. Actually they have not yet done their little BIG BANG. And they had a large helium leak into the tunnel, further tests are delayed for at least two months.

I've been thinking about Major League Baseball as it existed in the first half of the 20th century.

Specifically, New York baseball, which had three major league teams. Not only does this seem unfair (no other city had more than 2), but oddly, two of their teams (the Giants and Yankees) were named after the city as a whole, while one (the Dodgers) was named after the borough.

I was thinking of a re-alignment scheme that might pretty this situation up a bit. My plan involves creating en entire New York City DIVISION, with teams from each of the five boroughs.

We've got the Mets and Yankees. We keep those, but change the name of the New York Mets to the Queens Mets. The Yankees become the Bronx Yankees. Scratch that, make them the Bronx Bombers. That's been a nickname for years, let's make it the official name.

We bring the Dodgers from LA back to Brooklyn, so that's three boroughs covered.

For the remaining boroughs, we create two new teams: the Manhattan Cocktails, and the Staten Island Fairies.

If we want a 6 team division, we can stretch a point and put a team in Yonkers. That's kinda sorta an unofficial 6th borough anyway. Make them the Yonkers Yankees. That's alliterative, and means we can keep the "Yankees" name in use, despite the fact that the Bronx team won't have it any more.

Whaddya think? Is this a winner? Should I try to copyright this idea before Bud Selig steals it?

Well, maybe I should not ask this; but, oh, all right ( smile ):

Petrosianic, why does Staten Island get stuck with the team nickname "Fairies?"

Because the most famous thing about Staten Island to people outside New York is the Staten Island Ferry.

I've got some nothing. I've found a video of a guy dancing on all the stations of the Moscow Subway. - supposedly, all 150+ of them. Apparently, it is a response to (or a parody of) the viral videos made by a guy called Matt Harding: the latest and greatest , the one with the outtakes that didn\'t make it , and the original .
