It seems to me that most people 'become' Christians because their parents didn't give them much choice in the matter. Guess I should define what I mean by "Christian". It is someone who has a personal relationship with Jesus as outlined in the Bible. Without that relationship, you aren't a Christian. People who feel they are Christian because their parents were Christian, or because they figure they're not Jewish, Muslim or Buddhist so must be Christian have muddied up the original, or at least the old, definition of Christian. AT Ed, perpetual motion machines etc. Yes, hence the smiley face. However, if thousands or hundreds of thousands of people say they've invented the perp motion machine and that you're handsome, rich and a good chess player.... I will ask my friend what she means by cultural Jew then...she explained it way back then but I forget what she said now. I wouldn't be so quick to say being a cultural Jew means nothing. She spent time in Israel and her sister married an Israeli and they've lived in Israel for decades raising their kids, and they're very religious. My friend's ideas about cultural vs religious Jews may not be straight from the horse's mouth, but I suspect we're in the stall.

These people pretend they are Jews and only try to convert Jews. They do not live up to the ideals of Jesus at all. In fact, I am sure that they are not truly born again believing Christians and will not be saved, if in fact that is the criteria for going to heaven. Those are pretty strong words, Inky. Prove it! One can never believe in Jesus and be a Jew! So, let me get this right, Inky. Jesus Himself was a Jew; but, any person who actually believes in Jesus can NOT be a Jew?? Uh, that makes no sense to me at all! Chess Fan

Surely you can believe he existed, can't you? I believe Muhammad existed, but am in no way, shape or or form a Muslim. Ditto for the Buddha. He was certainly a real person. Indeed, the historical evidence that Jesus Christ existed is overwhelming. In my opinion, the vast majority of people who believe that Jesus never existed are making that choice because they simply do NOT want to believe that Jesus ever existed, because, then, they do not have to face up to the ramifications that are involved in their lives if they actually DO believe that Jesus Christ did, indeed, truly exist as a Person. I wish! Do you really wish it was so, knight_Tour? Well, it is, indeed, so! And, it is a decision that *you* still have the opportunity of making as long as you have life here upon this mortal Earth. However, the Bible warns that you should NOT wait too long to make that all-important decision to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. The Bible says that TODAY is the day of salvation! Indeed, tomorrow may be eternally too late for you to make that decision. Chess Fan
