To celebrate both the new bigger avatars, and the impending arrival of Halloween, I had a (hopefully) cute idea.
I remember back on a site called Caption This, where users would create parodies of their usernames for holidays like Christmas and Halloween.
I've had the same avatar here for 4 years. I'm not ready to dump it yet, but I do feel like a change, for a little while, at least. So, from now until Halloween, I'm going to use a different avatar every day (like a "costume", get it?). After I drive everyone dotty by changing avatars every day, I'll go back to the old one.
I'd like to encourage anybody else who wants to play, to come up with their own "Halloween costumes" from now until Halloween, and if they do, to post it here in this thread.
Avatar of the Day for October 13: Professor Matt Matic (who I can't help calling Major Matt Matic), from the old Gerry Anderson schlockfest series: Fireball XL5.

Ok, extra points for anyone who knows who's in my avatar.

Oh, and I thought it looked like a puppet version of Petrosian. Fireball is an odd show. It portrays a very old-fashioned future, where women can be degreed research scientists, yet still make coffee and do the laundry. And has some of the squarest futuristic dialogue you can imagine. You'd have to be a tootie not to think it was real boss. Don't know about Halloween costumes, but I thought about bringing back my Painter avatar for the Anand-Kramnik match.
I don't remember that one. But doing special avatars for the match sounds like a real boss... er, I mean a good idea too.

I like my Gort, good for all occasions! Will you go see the new remake of it? I probably won't, I love the original! I'm a big Patricia Neal fan..

My avatar was a pretty tough one really, I'd have been surprised had anyone gotten it. It's Bill Haverchuck from Freaks and Geeks, played by Martin Starr. Great, great tv show.
