So far ...

Radja and Dom are in a very tactical Dragon, Chucky and Anand are pretty even in a Slav, Grischuk might have a slight edge due to his passed pawn against Carlsen, and Wang Yue is even against Aronian in another Slav.

Nothing too shocking yet, any of these games can go any direction from here.

Interesting that Chucky - Anand follows Anand - Kramnik game from the match that Vladimir had to work hard to hold. Anand must have analysed it to a sure draw in all variations.

Funny, Dominguez's 15. f4 is a pet line of mine that I thought was discredited by theory. Some books even give this move a ?! Even more funny is that I wasn't even aware of Radjabov's 16..Qc8. Everyone played 16..Ng4 against me in that position (and more often than not proceeded to crush me from there). Heh, if Radjabov played 16..Qc8 it must be even better for Black.

Ivanchuk seems to have a pretty solid position, I wonder if he will be able to exploit Anand's slightly weaker pawns ...

Ivanchuk-Anand is looking very funny. Fritz8 gives Ivanchuk 4.25 pawns extra, and the main line it suggested lets white queen the pawn and black having to sacrifice his rook. But his doubled pawn on g4 are sufficient to hold the draw, when I play out everything that Fritz8 is suggesting!

So Fritz changes its mind and starts advocating that white sacrifice his own rook instead, without trying to queen the pawn.

It's not a lost game Gamit. It probably is a draw. No matter how advantageous white looks.

The basic idea here is that black will force the white king to go to b7, and then start running away with his g4 pawns. Even though white will queen and black will give up the rook, the two pawns will save the day, as white will have time to capture only one.

If Anand indeed is in control here, it may be a spectacular show. But, then, he may not really be so! Of course, only black can lose here.

Radja obviously has some compensation for the exchange, but is it enough? I would love to see Dominguez do well, if only to improve my prediction contest standing... smile

Proloy, do you have the comp running for that game too? If so, what is the eval?
