Trees on Mars!

Arctic Terns put on enough flying mileage in their lifetimes to make 3 round trips to the moon. In one year they can put on 44,000 miles or more, from Antarctica to the Arctic, zig-zagging as they go.

44,000 miles. Frequent flier miles for those birds?

No frequent flyer miles, as the "mile" unit is strictly a U.S. anachronism (how quaint), and terns have elected not to fly into the US as they are now subject to virtual strip searches and hours long waits that results in missing connecting flights or cruise ships.

And now for something completely different, a woman gets a transplanted windpipe that was grown in her arm. It was grown in her arm so her body would could identify it as hers, and not reject it (she apparently doesn't need anti-rejection drugs, which have long-term side-effects).

Holy cow! I hope they perfect growing other organs that way--I might need some one day, like an extra brain.

Nah, Ed, it is NOT a new "organ" that you need; no, instead, it IS a loving wife that you need!
