So some years ago When Nakamura was blazing playchess with his top bullet rating, I used to wonder why he would randomly claim disconnect near the end of a blitz/bullet game when he was close to losing and trying to win on time. I used to think he was just doing it to mess with the opponent's head.

Today I discovered the true advantage to abusing the claim on disconnect in blitz chess on playchess: It exploits a design flaw that has yet to be fixed! I had it done to me today, and although I still won the game, I finally understood why people do it. As it turns out, claiming disconnect actually wipes out your opponent's premove. In my game, every time my opponent spammed the claim, my premove was erased and I had to think very fast to reapply it each time.

Yet another failure of the playchess software. I've began to notice less and less people playing there anyway. Nakamura stopped playing there at all and only logs in to ICC to blitz now. I'd make the switch myself, except I think ICC charges WAY too much for membership. It should be 30 bucks a year, not 30 bucks every damned 3 months. That's outrageous.
