Michael Vick signs a contract for $100 million. Crime does pay.

Yep, my guess was right! grin

When I saw that Ed posted here in this thread, I guessed that Ed was posting about Micheal Vick's new contract, and, I was right in my guessing here! grin

And, predictably, you have nothing to say about it.

It turns out that Vick will not make anything like $100 million. Interesting article on pro football, and in itself another reason to be cynical about pro sports.

The Packers lost to the Chefs [sic] today, and several of them are quoted saying how they never cared about the perfect season in the first place. I was rooting for them t go all the way before, but I'm now rooting for an early exit from the playoffs, not for blowing the perfect season, but for not caring about it.

I did the same thing with the Dolts a few years back, but the difference with them is that they said even before they blew it that they didn't care about it, and acted that way with their play calling. The Dolphins, they sure care about it.

Yes, I am disappointed in the fact that the Packers no longer have a shot at a "perfect" season! frown

According to BSNBC, at least some of them cared about it:

Tramon Williams: Losing is no Relief

Quote:
“You always want to make history,” cornerback Tramon Williams said via Pete Doughtery of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “We didn’t get a chance to do that, it’s over. I’d like to say it’s a relief, but it’s not. It’s not a relief.”

Charles Woodson said he was “a little disappointed. . . . That’s a special thing when you can do something like that and to have an opportunity to be that close to it. But it’s over. Now you have to refocus on winning the next game and moving on from this one.”

I always root for the undefeated teams to blow it. I liked the Dolphins, they seemed like nice guys. I can't say the same for many modern football players.

It was sweet when the Patriots blew it in the Super Bowl. When the played the final game of the season TWO networks broadcast the game. There is something wrong with that.

Some of the Dolphins come off as arrogant, and toot a bit too much about being the greatest team of all time, and how they in their prime would beat any of the top teams of today. I don't buy that. Today's players are bigger, tougher, and more steroid-enhanced than teams of the 70s, and the 72 Dolphins had an increadibly weak schedule.

On the other hand, you can't deny that they reallly, really care about that record. I'd rather they have it than some kid who just wants to win the Superbowl this year, and who cares about history. It would have been nice for a seminal team like Green Bay or Chicago to have that record, but it's not going to happen this year. And maybe it never will, so long as teams seem to make it a point of pride to not care about it.
