understand the truth and have faith (belief with action) in the truth I would say the basics is 'follow Jesus', meaning live the kind of life that he did, and 'allow God to change you on the inside' so that you are capable of living the kind of life that Jesus did. Understanding is not enough! As it is said, the righteous shall live by faith. Or is there any other way? To know or understand what truth is, I believe you need Holy Spirit guidance or messages from Holy Spirit guided people like Rev Paul Dawson or Pastor Livingston. Well, I'm not meaning to say anything contrary to 'the righteous shall live by faith'! It's just that God's Word, the Bible, always needs to be made alive to us and within us by the work of God in us, I'd say. I think you'd agree with that, wouldn't you?

Understanding is not enough! I understand what are you getting to. But whatever I said includes what you just said. So in this case, Truth: "I (Jesus) am the way." Faith in action: (I know it is tough but) You follow his example. But that are other truths in the Bible that will help you make following Jesus or taking up the cross much simpler than you would think. Truth: "My yoke is easy and my burden is light." Well, I'm not meaning to say anything contrary to 'the righteous shall live by faith'! It's just that God's Word, the Bible, always needs to be made alive to us and within us by the work of God in us, I'd say. I think you'd agree with that, wouldn't you? I totally agree.

Well, I'll be...there is an App for that! See the Salvation App from Footwash Ministries. Sorry CF, it doesn't tell you who is or is not going to hell---you'll have to stick to your Salvation-Ouija board for that information.

I watched the entire video there, and wow, that would be a *great app* to have IF indeed I owned an I-phone, (which I do not.) Also, I find it *a bit hard to believe it* where they said that 85% of Christians do not know how to share their faith. I can almost guarantee you that that number is NOT that high among truly saved, born-again believers in Jesus Christ! Chess Fan

Just looking at more apps. Here's a bunch of Christian apps aimed at 5 to 10 year olds (also apparently very popular with white conservative male adults in the Tea Party (app)---go figure). Then an app for reading your Bible on an iPhone. I use Kindle myself, but even with the Kindle search function, it is still far faster to manually flip through a dead tree Bible when the pastor is tying together verses from all over the Bible into a rather unique theological message probably not imagined by the original writers even if you could put them all together on a committee. Here are new Bible verses every time you launch your app, there's Christianity Today magazine downloaded by the app (comments say it doesn't work, but probably best not to read too much into that failure and the name of the app itself), Thoughtful Christianity, which does work and I'll probably check it myself, Interactive Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis (you can read, listen, have background info on certain sections), a Koine Greek app that tests you on vocabulary (drool, want!!), another Greek study tool, and a different Greek vocabulary builder based on textbooks I already have (more drooling, more want!), and these are just a few of the ones available. At the moment all I have is my sister's old iPod touch and I haven't bothered getting an iPad because I didn't really see anything it could do that other things could do better. But after looking through these and other apps perhaps I should reconsider my decision--I already have apps like this bird one which would look much better on an iPad.

If you can get it in android the cost of android tablets is coming down a bit. But there are some things that really are better on an ipad.

There are rumors of ipad 3 (or 2.5) between now and x-mas. That should drop the price of ipad 2s a little bit.

I'm still not sure I want an iPad though. I like having the flexibility of a tablet--it has external ports like a USB key--so I can load things on that you couldn't load on an iPad (or at least not load easily). The whole Apple genre reminds me of the coffee company that was failing till they doubled the prices of their coffee, and people flocked to the shops, equating more expensive with better. I was looking at some Macs (4 GB, 64 GB) for over a 1000 dollars compared to other i5 chips with 6 GB, 750 GB, for 600 to 800 dollars (Toshiba). Sony a bit more expensive but not by much. And if you wanted to gamble on an Acer, you could get something similar for under 500.
But we'll see. Currently my laptop is MIA. Sent it in for repair (BIOS update failure), they sent it back, except it wasn't my computer in the box. The store is horrified and they've launched an official investigation (which may just be a customer soothing exercise so they think the store is taking it seriously, and it may not amount to much more than a few emails). But I may be able to get a very good deal on a tablet or iPad for the inconvenience.
