Ken, Ken, you really can not help yourself, can you??!!: Kenny boy, you really DO have "a thorn in your side" concerning the Creationists, don't you?!
You drone on...., and on...., and on....., and on about them.
In my opinion, Ken, there is an underlying *spiritual issue* with you concerning all of this; (in that, you KNOW what you *should do*; but, you still have **NOT done it**, concerning that particular spiritual issue!)! Ken, why do you *continue* to battle against just what that you know that you should do concerning that particular spiritual issue in your life??!! Chess Fan

Ken, what's the point? This thread/argument is over 100 years late. The creationists/flat-earthers/other kinds of retards have already lost all these arguments many years before any of us were even born. For someone to still hold on to creationism, it must mean they have actively chosen to stick their head in the sand and you are not likely to convince them, no matter how good/persuasive the things you come up with will be.

Good questions. The creationists are in denial that they lost the argument. In the U.S. they are clearly gaining ground in the hearts and minds of the general public. It appears that Texas is already headed towards "teaching the controversy" in science class--lead by a department of education that is openly hostile to those who even appear to question creationism. Texas adopts textbooks for the entire state at the state level--every child in Texas gets the same textbook for each class. Because of this whatever Texas decides the rest of the nation is often stuck with because publishers cater to the large market. It is a very real possibility that Texas will be adopting science texts that present ID/creationism as part of a scientific controversy, rather than a cultural controversy. Because it is in the curriculum expect more and more young Texans to confuse religious beliefs with scientific reality. Since the texts will almost certainly be adopted by individual districts in other states where people have been trying hard to get ID/creationism into the classroom, we can expect fairly widespread erosion in scientific understanding and, possibly, movement towards a theocracy (end of the U.S. thread?). If Ken's rants can save even one person from the misleading arguments of the ID/creationists his time is well spent. (Besides, he often helps me see new/different ways to address the teaching of scientific thinking, so I rather prefer that he continue his commentaries.)

I am not saying Ken should stop or anything. I am just asking what's the point. As for Texas - I don't really care. If they pass those laws, the responsible parents will leave those schools, or even the state, anyway. And if whoever remains wants to turn their own children into mindless zombies of the Christian Right - I say let them. After their children fail to be competitive with those in states/countries where they actually make an effort not to brainwash kids with religious dogma - maybe Texas will realize "survival of the fittest" doesn't just apply to biology

That's okay, because, time is tick..., tick..., ticking away toward the time when EVERY person will know just WHO really and truly created everything! All of the Creationist deniers can have their fun now, because, there IS a day coming, (maybe very soon now), when their anti-God, anti-Creationist, humanistic arguments and viewpoints will totally be blown up in their anti-God mocking faces, to their own eternal detriment! So, go ahead and mock away, because, THAT day IS coming!! Chess Fan

In this case, RB, I was mainly excited to see such a high quality video (glad to see CF agrees that it was a great video and it has him seriously thinking things over especially since it was produced by a Christian).
I was just very impressed at how easily he dismantled several of the creationist arguments, and did it so that even the high school students could understand it. And he did it respectfully and in such a way that those with religious beliefs wouldn't feel threatened. I think the strongest he got was saying that anyone who denies the evidence for evolution lacks integrity...and even then he worded it diplomatically.
(so, no Spock, this wasn't a rant...this was an excited 'oh i gotta share this with the folks' because it was so refreshing).
If you go to youtube, type in Kenneth Miller Colbert Report, you'll see his appearance on there (only in the U.S.) He said (paraphrased now) that the creationist God is rather small and pedantic. He makes a species...oops, it goes extinct, makes another one...oh-oh, that went extinct too. On the other hand his God is much more imaginative in that he came up with this fantastic clever method of developing species called evolution.
You can disagree about his latter statement, but he's right about the former statement regarding the creationist God. They've put him into a small box, and dictated what he's allowed to do and told him how he did it. Their God is too small.

Here is an interesting site with counter science view points and with some nice diagrams. Pretty strong words at the end. We'll see how Ken, Spock are going to handle this. Debunking Evolution: problems, errors, lies exposed in plain language for non-scientist. Debunking Evolution The only tactic left to evolutionists is to ridicule their critics as simpletons who don't understand how their pet theory really works. Here is a link to a roster of hundreds of professionals whose advanced academic degrees certify that they thoroughly understand evolution theory. They also have the courage to defy the high priests of academia by voluntarily adding their names to a skeptics list against Darwinism. Darwin is liked by evolutionists because he liberated science from the straitjacket of observation and opened the door to storytellers. This gave professional evolutionists job security so they can wander through biology labs as if they belong there.

Pirc...have you watched the video? Do so please.
Without looking at that list, I will tell you what it consists of. It will consist almost entirely of people who do not work in the biological field, who are not paleontologists, and who do not publish any works in the field of evolutionary science. As well, there will be names on that list of people who objected to being on that list but their names still appear. So, let's go see....

Ken, I haven't. I'll watch now.
P.S. I started watching but connection is slow. Also the streaming stops in between so I can't let the whole thing to download to watch. I'll watch probably tomorrow.
