This is turning into a fairly crazy tactical game after Anand chose the 3.f3 variation against the Grünfeld. White has won all 4 previous games in this line up to 15...Rc8, but Gelfand seems very confident and is still playing quickly. A little trap with the sharp 16...e4 as the pawn can't be taken, but Anand didn't fall for it and played the safe Bd4.

edit: To be precise, White has won all 4 previous games after 16.d6 and lost the only one after 16.Ka1, which Anand played. But so far it looks like both Anand and Gelfand know what they're doing, let's see whose preparation was deeper. 16...e4 appears to be the novelty.

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. f3 d5 4. cxd5 Nxd5 5. e4 Nb6 6. Nc3 Bg7 7. Be3 O-O 8.
Qd2 e5 9. d5 c6 10. h4 cxd5 11. exd5 N8d7 12. h5 Nf6 13. hxg6 fxg6 14.
O-O-O Bd7 15. Kb1 Rc8 16. Ka1 e4 17. Bd4 *

Hmm, not sure about Gelfand's plan with Na4 and Qa5. He seems to be willing to sac his e4 pawn and exchange queens. Naiditsch thinks this line is close to equal, though, since Black can attack White's d5 pawn and has a slightly better pawn structure. So maybe Gelfand is happy to go for a draw.

And btw, why are they spending more time on the official brodcast talking about paintings than commenting on the game today?

Where are the live GM commentaries available...? Is Shipov commenting...?

The video broadcast on the official website has Jan Timman commenting today. Naiditsch is commenting on the Chessdom/ChessBomb live site. Shipov's commentary is translated into English on Chess In Translation. Susan Polgar is also giving commentary on her blog.

Thanks! The chessdom site refuses entry. May be firewall settings at work.

Anand seems pretty short on time, though he has some chances. Just half an hour for 15 moves.

Gelfand has just played another aggressive move, Nb2. He is definitely keeping very active. I can't help but think that the bishop on f1 is a liability for Anand. Anand now has 19 minutes for 14 moves.

Another hard fought game. It's down to a Rook and Pawn ending. Two Sheds is slightly better, but Mitzvah should have enough play to hold it.

Draw. Despite all the games being drawn so far, I have found the match to be very exciting. Both players are playing well and fighting, it will be great once one of them decides to risk a little bit more and try to notch the first win.

Edit: I found Timman's commentary to be very good today. He has very clear, constructive things to say about the game, and has been hanging out with the best players in the world for so long, that he has a ton of great bits of trivia to offer as well. Hope he comes back for at least another game or two!

Draw affixed. Another good game. I don't think they've all been draws because neither player is risking enough, though.
