I was not happy with any of the set selections in dasher, so I decided to try and make a Fritz-style set. Dasher uses low quality, masked bitmaps for pieces, while fritz uses vectors, so the conversion was a little difficult. They came out passable, but not exactly perfect. Here's a screenshot:

If you're interested in using these, here's the link to the zipped files (extract them into the 'sets' folder in the dasher directory on your hard drive):

Just a note that I've made a few corrections and have re-uploaded this image and the set files. I've pretty much got all the corrections done I wanted to make, so I'm calling it finished.

Just got a brainstorm on how to do the pieces better and it worked great. The files and preview picture have been re-uploaded. I'm also going to make a gradiant version, similar to the "rounded" option you can check in the Fritz gui.

Woot! Finished the ramped version of the set. It basically gives a slight shading effect on the pieces like the fritz gui does. Here's how they look:

And below is the zip file for this set:

Oh sorry, Dasher is the ICC gui. Some of the players on here have accounts on ICC instead of playchess. My biggest gripe was the set selection for Dasher just didn't cut it for me.

Another problem is Dasher uses the same bitmap for each square when you want to do textured squares like wood grain. So you end up with a noticable repeating woodgrain in Dasher, while in Fritz, it has larger map that can be textured to the whole board instead of square-by-square.

FBX - I get page not found when clicking on your links. Would love to see the set. Can you check the URL's when you get a minute?

Cheers,
Chris
