I'm looking for the oldest draw on record, and the oldest one I've been able to find is this. Anybody got anything older?

Doing a Google search, I found this reference:

"In the Oxford Encyclopedia of Chess Games, the earliest draw of any kind was a perpetual check in 1750, although that book has recorded games all the way back to the 1400's."

Does that mean that the score still exists, or just that it's the earliest one that is mentioned anywhere? I wonder who the players were.

The book has the game score in it. You'd need to get a copy of volume one to see what the moves were.

I guess I'll have to, because I found an old .pgn file I once downloaded, called "1930 games played before 1862" (Or was it 1862 games played before 1930?). Either way, it has a lot more early games than Fritz's database does, but no draw earlier than Bowdler-Philidor. I checked chessgames.com, and that's the earliest draw in their database too. I guess I'll have to get the book to find an older one.
