In the recent weeks, the most important release was Komodo 5 - but there is no MP version, still. Under singlethread conditions, the IPON test indicates a strength increase of +27 Elo over K4 which is quite good.

In the freeware sector, we now have Critter 1.6a but despite some improvements, it doesn't seem to be measurably stronger than version 1.4.

Another interesting release was Gull II beta2, a strong freeware engine which is now mp-capable. This engine should not be ignored.
