Rimfaxe played a very good game.
And I got very, very lucky. After my move 20. Qg3, black could simply have forked my king and queen! I saw it just after I made the move, and held my breath for about 20 seconds (luckily Rimfaxe didn't think about it for 2 minutes :p ). I just couldn't believe my luck when Rimfaxe didn't spot it. Probably nerves from both sides.
I got to be 2 pawns up, but with a difficult position, which allowed Rimfaxe not only to win them both back, but to get one ahead. By that time, we were in the endgame. Rimfaxe did try his best (I think that he missed one possibility there, but I'll have to take a closer look), and only offered a draw when he was down to 40 seconds without any hope of winning. It was a good fight.
I'll post some analysis in half an hour.

Here are my thoughts on the game.
Maybe Rimfaxe can give his comments/analysis too.

I have added my comments to Obi1's comments. I think it is a very interesting game. Surely there is alot of psychology in this game. eek

I made several mistakes in this game but so did Obi1! So in the end a draw was the right result!

Once more congratutalion to Obi1. On my own part I am happy with 2. place. After my loss in 1st round to Eddie and the lucky win against WSFF after losig a piece I cannot be unhappy about this result. :p

I am looking very much forward to the next tournament. I think this is a fantastic experiance! laugh

First, congratulations to Obi1 on winning the tournament. Second, Octal and I played our game yesterday and I won. Octal played a good game. He resigned after blundering a bishop. Up until that point the game could have gone either way. I wish he didn't resign because I had complete confidence that I would have blundered a piece back to him.

Last, to all the ninjas in the tournament, well done. There were some good games and some bad but I think we all learned something. Good games and good luck to all in the next tournaments.

The game between Octal and I will be posted once I figure out how to do it.

Now, according to my data, there are three games to be played for Tonc 1 to finish:

DÁrtagnan - Unhinged (round 6-game)
Just4Fun - Rezonator
Unhinged -Jsweet

Unhinged and I was supposed to play today but he didn't show up. In his pm to me he stated that he was still in holiday mode. Which I can certainly understand. J4F and Rez played earlier today (don't know the result).

Rez took me to school. Great game until I hung my knight. Actually hung is the wrong term. It was more like a front line execution.

Rez and Octal both stuck around to discuss the game afterwards. Great comments by both. It makes losing in this crowd a totally worth while experience. Thanks!

Rez's game illustrates the importance of a plan. laugh From the start Rez knew what his plan was, while I flopped around looking for one. I had some ideas, but nothing that I ever committed to. I think another lesson here is that as White I played the opening to passively. I tried to play in a conservative manner, and before long only had the option of just hanging on (which I didn't do). Great game, Rez.

So am I LOTONC? (Loser of TONC).
wink wink

I think we should definitely have the KOTONC & LOTONC titles. smile

Ok, now there are just two games to be played:

DÁrtagnan - Unhinged
and Unhinged - Jsweet.

I gather that the problem is a that Unhinged is still sun-bathing at the beach.

Since these matches won't much affect the standings, I suggest that we give another week (until 11/8) to play both games. In case they are not played, DÁrtagnan and Jsweet will get the point.

For startdates of Tonc2 and LeTonc1, please see the new topic.

I am sunbathing but at the office. Internet was broken on Sunday when I was due to play D'art so we'll be playing this coming Sunday and I should be playing jsweet tonight around midnight if jsweet makes it in to work early. I'll try to avoid scheduling my holiday in the middle of the next TONC.
