Me too. That's why I am glad two of the best, most deserving players of their generation will be playing in the upcoming match, and not you or me smile

It's nice to get confirmation of what I said was Kramnik's view BEFORE the FIDE tournament, even when Kramnik was saying 'oh this is the WC'. Read back over comments for evidence.

Interesting to see that a LOT of people believed this was Kramnik's view (FIDE real) before the FIDE tournament... I guess they had different reasons for that.

The bad behavior was by Danailov and Ilyumshinov. They orchestrated and ran everything from positions of power. Topalov is under Danailov's spell, much as Kramnik is unduly influenced by Hensel.

Considering there was no proper cycle set up, a rematch was the proper thing to do.

Second, I think you're smoking something good if you think Kamsky stands a chance against Topalov! I can't stand Topalov, but he is much better than Kamsky right now.
Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I have this feeling. wink

By that thinking, Anand wouldn't be champion.

Isn't that what Kramnik implied in his interview? I am just countering him! smile

This is just great, the Kaputnik resurfaces and claims that match is the only way.. smile , nice, you underperform ( deliberately ? eek ) in tournaments because you have been preparing some secret weapon for a match..or you consider it unimportant .
This has to be quite a patheric argument even by ardent pro-match standards. Imagine if Kasparov or Karpov were to play tournaments before any WC, they would win atleast 1 convincingly .. smile

Kamsky - who I think will beat Topalov, if I haven't just put the 'inky curse' on him - won the knock-out. So, he is in the same category as Kasimdzhanov, although he didn't get the title of FIDE World Champion.

The Grand Prix is another poor way of choosing a candidate for many reasons. So, even if we consider the winner of Anand-Kramnik to be a true World Champion, the line ends there, unless FIDE revises it's method of choosing a challenger.
i totally agree with your comments here. As far as the inky curse well I can do the same thing. I will *not* bet on Kamsky or Kramnik winning as that woudl surely seal their fate. In fact I will just point out that Kamsky has a very bad score against Topalov. smile ninja

edit:I agree except that bit about giving Topalov a rematch that is. Thats just nutty. smile

Kramnik gave another great interview. More reason why he is my favorite player. I do think Kasparov intimidated players and that hurt their play. Computers would be best at verifying this and so its just a hypothesis for now. I love that kramnik didn't let it bother him he dodged all the hype and played the board. up
