Let us have a democratic poll as to who you think are the people who are most capable of being chessninja moderators. Please choose upto 4.

My Fellow ChessNinjians. Four years ago when you elected Rondino to office, he made a lot of promises. Promises to eliminate the thread count implosion problem which has so plagued our off topic threads. Promises to increase player turnout for important events like the Tournament of Ninja Champions. Promises to restore Chess Ninja to it's proud heritage as a forum slightly less goofy than Usenet.

Yet here we stand, four years later, you have to ask yourself, what has really changed? Instead of fixing our threads, we've seen page after page of Ed Yetman postings lost for all time. TONC is now being run in another state, and all across usenet anti-chessninja sentiment is high. We cannot allow this state of affairs to continue. It's time to show Rondino that the voters of district 4 (Montana, Idaho, Canada) deserve real representation, not empty promises.

Vote Octal for Moderator this tuesday.

I'm octal, and I wrote this message in it's entirety. Paid for by the Friends of Octal For Moderator Group, Helena MT.

I am Russianbear and I endorse this message.

For the sake of completeness, there should be a question of who shouldn't be a moderator - and perhaps allow to vote for up to 10 people.

How typical. How sad. I refuse to engage <by the way> in such underhanded political <district 4 voters> chicanery. My time in office <did you know that> is, and always has been <octal tortures kittens>, marked by integrity <for sport>. My record is <and that he also> spotless <smells funny>, and I stand <kind of like your> by <weird great aunt's> it <kitchen>.

All kidding aside, this thread is a bad idea. These types of polls are absolutely meaningless. When Mig decides to change mods he will no doubt ask for the input of the CN membership. Until then, you can complain until the cows come home, but nothing will change. Having said that, in the spirit of finding good replacements when the time comes, I voted for octal, littlefish, and Sachbinger (exempting the current mods) each of whom I am convinced would do a great job.

Except for octal, of course. That was a mistake. Don't vote for him. He smells funny.

Have you dropped out of the race? I thought you wanted to be a moderator yourself and now you are endorsing Octal. smile

On a different note, do littlefish and bachsinger even want to volunteer for this post? smile

Hello. I commend the enthusiasm and pro-activeness of the vote, but until the purple finger dye or the foolproof Diebold machines arrive we can't embrace democracy quite so ambitiously just yet. But it's long past time for mod rotation, which was supposed to be frequent to decrease the perceived importance of the post. Typically I just ask for nominations. Then I look at their post history and frequency of appearance. Mental stability and regular posting are the only criteria. So even if you don't vote or don't see your "candidate" in the poll, just suggest the name or names of a few sane people and we'll get it done. Not a big deal, please.

If you see your name and have feelings about it, post whether or not you will accept. Again, this is, or should be, a minimal work activity.

It's typical of my opponent to try to deflect criticism of his record, which is frankly abysmal. But I have faith that the good people of this district will not be fooled.

Rondino likes to portray himself to the media as a moderate, a no-nonsense legislator who stands for the little guy, and family values. Don't be impressed by these mere words. Let's have a look at his voting record.

- On morals: Rondino is an acknowledged liberal moral subjectivist. He voted for the utilitarian crime bill which would make it legal to kill infants!

- On the world championship: Rondino has publically acknowledged and cheered for Topalov on several occasions, yet when pressured he backpedals and claims he thinks Danailov is a cad. Flip flop, Rondino. Flip flop. We're on to you. Tellingly, he voted against the house measure which would have banned Topalov for 3 years.

- On Short draws: Rondino claims to be "tough on draws", yet his own TONC record points out the meaningless of his words. 20 move draws against Petrosianic and Chess Fan. We deserve more.

Don't be fooled by Rondino's canadian smooth-talking. He may sound like a moderate, but the record speaks for itself. Rondino is a left-wing canadian liberal.

I nominate octal, Mad Hatter, and Petrochess.

Mad hatter would be fine, but she doesn't post much, same with Petrochess. Or maybe you've just got a thing for "Petro" members. wink

Again, I recommend octal, littlefish, and Sachbinger. Those three get my unqualified endorsement. I also believe that Malthrope would do a great job provided he manages to keep a lid on his raging libido. wink So there we go. The Fairest Person Alive has spoken. Accept gentlemen, please, and let's be done with this.

Eh, i'm willing to do it. I think pretty much any of the people mentioned so far would be fine though, so no big deal either way for me. I will continue to post useless drivel either way, as is my whim.
