If you think a person unfairly attacked has no business defending himself, then you're not qualified to be a mod. If you think absolutely anything goes, even obscenity, then you are, again, not qualified to be a mod. You don't deny these things, you just think I'm worse than you are. But so what if I am, if I'm leaving anyway? Well, clearly YOU think it is acceptable, too, because you have included it in your message. I do not see how lack of bias toward asterisks should automatically disqualify anyone.
You're free to believe that spelling the word out in a recognizable way is no worse than typing four asterisks, if you like. My point was only that that belief disqualified you from consideration.

Hey, don't knock it, man. A lot of people damn us with loud damns. Well this is certainly true. But there's a difference between **** you and **** you, if you know what I mean. It depends on context.
I **** sure do **** know what you **** mean. Does Russianbear really believe that personal attacks are acceptable? Russianbear?
Krish does not want to do the job. I believe he said so earlier in this thread.
You should know the first from personal experience. But I don't want to belabor it. The Hell in a Handbasket Party has fielded very few candidates in this election, and honestly the chance of Mig picking any of them is about the same as a snowball's chance in a handbasket in hell, so no need for bad feelings about it. But listen, about Krish again. What did he say, exactly? That he wasn't interested? (the old false modesty ploy, huh?) But did he say he absolutely wouldn't do it under any circumstances, not even if we dragged out the negatives of that Christmas Party in Las Vegas, where... well, you remember.

Holy crap! Nobody nominated Ken! Ken! Ken would be great! I hereby nominate Ken. Let's hear a round of support for this fine, upstanding, good-natured, knowledgable, polite member. Jeebus Murphy I can't believe he's been left out of the mix.
Please show your support for Ken. In my opinion, in all seriousness, I think he is perfect for the job.
EDIT to Petrosianic: Yeah, Petro, I know. I thought twice, three times, maybe even four times before endorsing Russianbear. I hesitated both because we have both been on the receiving end of what I considered quite mean-spirited attacks, and also because I thought you might perceive it as a personal slight. I certainly didn't mean it to be a slight. It is my honest opinion. I really believe that RB would do a fine job as moderator. We both have our own debating prejudices, after all, and we've done a really good job as mods. And it's not like RB would be doing the job alone -- with four mods you pretty much have to work as a team. Open discussion, reaching consensus, team building: RB would benefit from these aspects of the job, in my opinion. As a teacher, I can tell you from personal experience that it often works wonders to give the so-called troublemakers leadership roles within the classroom. (No offense intended RB; I certainly don't view you as the student to my teacher, just trying to justify my position to Petrosianic).
And about Krish: Well, I don't remember precisely what he said (and I'm too lazy to look it up), but I thought it was something along the lines of "people with strong opinions and who want to spend time and post regularly in threads other than chess-related threads should not be mods." I must admit I have revised my opinion about Krish and whether or not he would be a good mod. He's a great guy, a super member of CN, I like him very much, his baby is soooooo cute, but in my opinion he gets too worked up over CF. Genuinely angry. Then he tends to post things he regrets later. Which is not the worst thing in the world. Reminds me of myself, from time to time. But it doesn't help.
EDIT2: KEN FOR MOD! KEN FOR MOD! Join in everybody! KEN FOR MOD! ...

When I said there were good ones nobody had mentioned, he's one I thought of (guess I should have mentioned it). Or SteveK or lots of others, who haven't thrown either theirs or Eddie Rickenbacker's hat in the ring yet. If he's interested, sure, he'd do just fine.
