The Kommersant report says he was behind bars for over two years, which is not the case. (The usually excellent Chess Today repeats this error.) Eight months is certainly long enough, especially for completely spurious charges. I'll post an item when he gets home to New Jersey. Best wishes to Max and Marina.
I was extremely relieved when I saw that Max had been aquitted. It was one of those funny things since I really don't know him. Having been around since he came on the chess scene years ago, and following him on the ICC gave me some funny connection that made me particularly glad to read that Chessbase article. All my best to Max and Marina, and their son.
